MLAs speak out… but who didn’t? August 22, 2019

Good letter from anti-Brexit MLAs to Donald Tusk this last day reaffirming their support for the backstop. And from 90 MLAs in total 49 signed it. That’s no small thing getting SF, SDLP, Alliance and the GP all on the same page – literally.

And who were those who didn’t? Well, the DUP obviously and the UUP, nor TUV. But two others didn’t sign either, ‘liberal’ independent unionist Claire Sugden and PBP’s Gerry Carroll.

Gerry Carrol is part of the lexit fantasists: the owners of the Sam franchise demand it

There’s certainly a bit of an oddity there – not least given PBP said in the last couple of years that they wanted a poll in the North about remaining in the EU.

We’ve already had a poll in the north about remaining in the EU.
We said we wanted to and as a compromise would accept the “backstop”
The next poll is going to be on something completely different …!!!

Yea well – the SWP-franchises have gone quiet about Lexit, but I’m sure they are licking their Leninist lips about a the-worse-the-better crash out Brexit.

Red-Brown alliance abú!

You can get a sense of the party line of the mothership here, if you have the time and the stomach for it.

De facto alliance with the Farageists, in a nutshell.

But sure, give SF Westminster seats to Unionism in order to stop Brexit 🤔

I wonder if PBP will get any hassle in the media on this island over their non signing the letter comparable to that (or even proportionately the same given their differing political weights) SF have over abstention.

I doubt it. Would dilute the deeply stupid anti-SF message (on Brexit) of the establishment media, both north and south.
