RTÉ in upbeat form this evening. Tony Connelly seems to think there’s a deal…

All outstanding issues in the Brexit negotiations have been resolved with the exception of how VAT will be treated in Northern Ireland, RTÉ News understands.

After a turbulent day of negotiations in Brussels and politics in Westminster, it is understood a deal that EU leaders can sign up to tomorrow is now within reach.

Which raises a question on foot of discussions here. Of course this being Brexit, this could all be changed utterly tomorrow. But… Assume this flies, forget whether there will be an election here or in the UK and who wins or loses. What should those in the UK who have supported a soft Brexit or Remain do next? What indeed should the BLP do? Accept the new status quo or work towards softening it or reversing it over time, assuming the Tories win the next election? And by the by, what of those like the Brexit Party? What is their function in a new world where Britain has, quite decisively it would appear, left the EU?
