Last Saturday Night I was out in Limerick where a DJ called Tom Prendergast was on the decks. I’m not a particular fan of DJs or indeed dancing but his set was really incredible. Turns out he is quite an interesting character that spent time in the US, opened a record shop, and co founded the record label Bar/None that had such people as They Might Be Giants, Luka Bloom, Tindersticks and 10,000 Maniacs on their books for a period. It’s quite a story , although what he does now is interesting too.
Tom was interviewed by Ruairi McKiernan recently

Some great stuff in there. That’s an interesting career.

Tom is an old family friend. His record shop Pier Platters was in Hoboken, New Jersey. A lovely, talented man who I last met at the unveiling of the International Brigades plaque in Limerick a couple of years ago.
