Unionist support… October 16, 2020

The current issue of the Phoenix notes that Independent Unionist Senator Ian Marshall – who was not reelected this year to the Seanad was ‘rebuffed’ by FF – and didn’t make it to the 11 Taoiseach’s nominees. FG’s Michael D’Arcy has left the Seanad to – er – greater things, but tellingly no nod for Marshall from the ‘shared’ island crew in either FG or FF. Which leaves it to SF who are as the Phoenix notes offering ‘full support’ for Marshall in the forthcoming by-election.
As the magazine notes, it’s not a good look for Martin, or indeed FG, not to ensure at least one unionist voice in the second chamber.

Martin, the Leader of FF is not in favour of a United Ireland, so why would he interested in appointing anybody from Northern Ireland?

And allegedly has Eoghan Harris as a key advisor. The mind boggles.

And long may it continue, the more MM listens to Harris, the worse things get for him.

Given the record of previous politicians who had Harris stuck in their ear, I’m beginning to suspect he never left the WP, he’s just a sleeper wreaking havoc in the heart of the establishment. No, wait, it’s SF he’s really working for, cos it’s sure as hell them who are benefitting from his dim-witted “advice”😆

I don’t think an SF gov would change the world but it would be worth it just to see Harris’s apoplectic reaction.

No it wouldn’t change the world or no it wouldn’t be worth it just to see Harris go ballistic?
Viz an SF gov, or more likely, SF led gov., my guess would be it would be no more radical than the PSOE/Podemos gov in Spain or the Ardern gov in NZ. Progress, in an Irish context, no doubt, but not exactly 1917 or indeed 1945.

Both.
It wouldn’t be worth it full stop.
And it will not happen because JOE WILL NOT ALLOW IT.
