Heard the Low version of “I’m on Fire” recently and really liked it. So a selection of other Springsteen Covers….

Went looking for Cash’s version of Johnny 99, but found this, and it’s like it was written for him

Is there something about the women’s versions of Springsteen’s songs – Emmylou, The Staves, Patty Griffin – that brings out the sadness in them better than his growl does (those are some very unhappy emotions) – or is that just the wet-Saturday-afternoon beers talking?

Yeah, I think so.
I’ve a lot of time for le patron in many ways, but he can be a bit of one speed singer by times.
I was looking around for versions of Hard Times Come Again No More a few weeks back, having become mildly obsessed with Dylan’s version, but feeling there must be others and happened on Springsteen’s – a live version from somewhere. It’s unlistenable, because all the sadness of a very sad song gets lost in the bluster.

That’s kind of my problem with him, good songwriter – one speed singer

Amy McDonald’s hard clear voice is peculiarly good for Dancing in the Dark –
