No complaints! February 19, 2021

Thought this was striking, mention on RTÉ news this week by Dr Denis McCauley, Chair of the IMO’s GP Committee on the vaccination of people over the age 85 which started this week. He noted that there was no sign whatsoever of ‘vaccine hesitancy’, if anything quite the opposite. Be interesting to tease out the psychology of that, which is very positive.

My dad has his jab appointment for next Wednesday. He’s absolutely delighted at the prospect.

Saw some disappointing stats about vaccination take-up among staff in nursing/care homes in the UK. Majority taking the vaccine but a significant enough minority not so. Even worse a majority of people from BAME (is that the right acronym?) background didn’t take it. I think it was a survey in a particular area, not national, but disappointing all the same.
My reaction is to throw my hands in the air and say What’s wrong with these people?

Under Joeism, civil liberties would be sensibly shared. Any health worker refusing to take the vaccine without very definite medical reason would be turfed out of their job and sent down to do whatever it is we’re going to do with the ex-bogs.

Pope Frankie is taking no nonsense and fair play to him.Any vatican employee who refuses to take the vaccine faces the sack.At times like this ,a la carte Catholics like me say well done.

” Just one dose of the Moderna and Pfizer two-shot coronavirus vaccines is seemingly nearly as good two ”

” Since the country’s inception, the American medical institution has subjected Black bodies to abuse, exploitation and experimentation. Corpses being pulled from the ground for scientific study. Black women being sterilized without their knowledge and robbed of the opportunity to bear children. An entire Black community misled into believing they were immune from a fatal illness. Time and time again, Black people have been betrayed by the medical establishment, fostering a lingering, deep-rooted mistrust….
Whether it’s due to Black people being subjected to medical experimentation, deceived by doctors or abused by medicine, African Americans’ trepidation about getting the COVID-19 vaccines is not without historical merit.”

” Black New Yorkers are far less likely to receive COVID-19 vaccines than other state residents, health department data shows.
Black seniors make up 13% of the state’s residents 65 and older, but only 4% of those 65 and older who received at least the first dose of the vaccine are Black”

My folks, aged 174 years between them, got their first jabs during the week. As my da noted, they’re booked in for their second jabs on 16th March. Neither of them drink to any worthwhile extent, but I’d say there may be shamrocks drowned the day after…

Great to hear that Dr Nightdub. And clearly from the data emerging this has real impacts for the better on vaccinated groups as with health workers.
