I was among the crowds on the roadside in Glasnevin that day. The road had been retarred especially for the event.
It was quite an interesting few days. I’m pretty sure PIRA had an army convention on somewhere nearby around that time too – about the peace process, reaffirming their support, fair play to them.
So as we citizens watched the Free State army shepherding the remains to Glasnevin, among us, sporting their Easter Lily pins, were PIRA members mainly from the six counties, who had come along to watch the proceedings with us.

The Irish Labour Party (palpably ashamed of James Connolly) a very fitting sister party to the Stoops.

@banjoagbeanjoe. it’s a tremendous ‘photo. Who were they? and where were they taken from.
Disagree with you about ‘PIRA’. yes, they very probably were reaffirming their support. But was the peace process a trojan horse into this country of so much English business?
And Sinn Fein saying ‘Pushers Out’, when really they wanted power and put in their own voters, and even now they oppress subtly the inner city poor.
It’s only to look at the last election to see how they nod to Fine Gael, MLMD got 11K? Pascal Donoghue to 5K?
