As always, following on Dr. X’s suggestion, it’s all yours, “announcements, general discussion, whatever you choose”, feel free.
Ni dieu ni maître. Ni patrie, ni patron.

I see the anti-vax Serbian tennis-player has become such a daily fixture in the IT’s headlines that he’s just going by his first name now.

Brilliant photo in the IT a couple of days back. Mary Lou frowning as she receives instructions from the Army Council.
Caption competition maybe?
Gerry: ” A UI in five years Mary Lou or you’re out on your ear.”
Feck it I’ve lost the link. Later.

Actually, the competition is closed. The Irish Times have informed me that they brought in internationally experienced lipreaders to decipher exactly what was said to Ms McDonald immediately before this photo was taken. Here it is, verbatim.
Directory of Intelligence: “Volunteer McDonald, the Chief of Staff, with the full authority of the Army Council aka the legitimate government of the republic, has instructed me to issue you with the following order: You will achieve a 32 county republic within five years from the day. Failure to comply with this order will result in your summary arraignment before a court martial, convened in accordance with Army Standing Order No. 32, paragraph 1b. Dismissed.”

Brilliant.PBP are pro Irish unity but are a wee bit ambivalent on the “new dispensation” on policing. The PSNI does’nt have their wholehearted support to say the least!

It’s a deep, deep undercover infiltration. Funnily enough the PSNI thing isn’t an issue on the doorsteps of Dublin Central. So I’ll concentrate on other things which I can’t publicly disclose, for now.

Somebody in Britain needs to do to a montage of Nigel Farage in front of the huge line of trucks at Dover with the slogan ‘Breaking Point’ and put it on the front page of every British paper every day the queue lasts.

Apropos of nothing much, but realising that Micheál has been in the job for close to 11 years now: FF leaders have usually being long haul appointments, so he’s still only the fourth longest serving occupant of the job, but I’m sure I didn’t think he’d last the course when he took over.

This has been on my mind recently, so I’ll put it here…
A few weeks back Bernadette McAliskey was on the Tommy Tiernan show… afterwards various news sources said that Twitter users were mad about the interview ….
The Mirror quoted two or three tweets to back up this claim… but having read the piece what struck me was the whole piece was basically built on sand…
Two or three tweets do not a summer make
How many twitter users had been involved? No idea…
Even if we had the number of twitter users involved how many of them were written by people who spend their lives on twitter?
How many ‘likes’ or tweets makes a story viral?
If a band has a song on YouTube viewed 1m times… is it really that big? How many youtubers pressed play 5,10,20 times? How many are the band’s friends and neighbours? How long did it take to get to 1m views?if the same band got played on a bbc breakfast show they’d probably get a million listeners in one go? 🤷♂️

Why, exactly, were they supposed to be ‘mad’ about it?

I’m on twitter and am delighted if a political tweet gets 10 likes which they very rarely do.Most times they get none or maybe 3or 4.However one time I posted about a bus driver stopping his bus at a shop in the Sperrins to do the lotto on a very warm day.He returned with 6 ice lollies for his passengers.I got over 100 likes!

I wonder will the Peace And Neutrality Alliance and the Irish Anti-War Movement make any comment about the Russia naval exercises planned in our country’s Exclusive Economic Zone.

I’ve been following a lot of conspiracy tracking podcasts who say the problem is just worsening, particularly given the inclination of some in politics (more US than UK but not unheard of) to coattail this stuff and also social media and so on. BTW interesting the way it tracks party affiliation to no small degree.
