Just thought I’d get a list of Left candidates together before the election. I know classifying who is ‘Left’ can be tricky and may cause some debate. (Its almost like the disputes as to which band were really metal I had in my youth, It used to gall me terribly to have ‘Europe’ and their ilk described as Heavy Metal).
Who have I left out?

I gather Hooperman will be doing a pre election Press Conference Today….

Continuing with the football theme ..  a message of support from Paul McGrath

Then on to a flyer and Leaflet from Cieran Perry who wants “Asset seizure from Financial Criminals”

Then a Leaflet from Andrew Keegan– People Before Profit /United Left Alliance running in Dublin North West

On then to an Ad for Seamus Healy “Do not be misled by other candidates that ‘Healy Will Fly In'”

From Shell to Sea we get a €540 Billion Euro Bank Note

A Mick Wallace Poster that didn’t make the cut

A strange choice of quote from Dan Boyle “Judge of the Nations, spare us yet – Lest we forget, lest we forget”.

I wonder does Christy Burke realise, that in his leaflet, he is using a similar line to Maurice Ahern

KPSWA candidate Mary Fitzgibbon running in Kerry North West Limerick.

And finally why you should vote for Dick Roche and then not vote for Michael F Dolan

An incredibly busy week at the IELB which I’ve tried to edit down as much as possible….

First off Two different answers as two why the Country is in such a State.
David Bradley running in Louth reckons “..God not the politicians, is in charge of of our country and we seem to have forgotten that. God is our Sovereignty

Whilst Ted Neville of the Irish Solidarity Party in Cork South Central reckons “Mass Immigration Led To Ireland’s Crash…

Then we look at some 2011 General Election leaflets from The Left starting with People Before Profit/ United Left Alliance candidates

John Lyons whos is running in Dublin North Central

Joan Collins in Dublin South Central

and Dublin South candidate Nicola Curry

On then to Mick Murphy of The Socialist Party/ United Left Alliance running in Dublin South West

and then to ‘The Cuddly’ Joe Tobin of the Workers Party in Waterford.

From the Left we go off to the ‘Celebrity’ type candidates with flyers from  Mick Wallace in Wexford , Shane Ross in Dublin South and Paul Sommerville in Dublin South East.

Then some cartoons from Labour pair Ruairi Quinn and Kevin Humphreys

and finally 2011 Election Lookalikes part 1

Labour and Fine Gael Leaflets a brief review…. February 11, 2011

They are already arriving in the post. To date I’ve a number of Labour ones and they are identical between constituencies all bar the names and pics of candidates.
We have the same intro piece then all we hear about the candidates is that they

“bring honesty, integrity and courage to politics. We need these values now more than ever”

God be with the days where you’d actually find out something about the candidate. Their previous jobs, family life, their interests, hobbies and indeed voluntary work.

Its a Similar situation for Fine Gael where the leaflets don’t even have blurb about the candidates at all. Its a picture of the candidates on the front with Enda’s 5 point plan on the back.

Maybe the message is that its all about the Party and not about the Individual.
Anyway I don’t approve.
I’ve yet to get my hands on any of the Fianna Fail leaflets that arrive in the post.
