This Week At Irish Election Literature April 4, 2014
Posted by irishelectionliterature in Irish Election Literature Blog.trackback
Starting off with Colm Keaveneys 1995 leaflet when running for President of USI
A leaflet from Wladek Hanczar who is running as an Independent in Kilkenny City West
An immigration focused leaflet from Independent Seamus Treanor in Monaghan
I’d imagine this candidates parents were fans of the TV show Dallas
and the index of Local Election Leaflets continues to grow
That Seamus Treanor link is going to Wladek Hanczar’s leaflet.

The Monaghan literature is as equally abhorrent and it is scary. It seems an Irish version of UKIP is rearing its head. I never came across too much anti-immigrant rhetoric in Monaghan per say. Most workers know the owners are screwing everybody equally. (and they say we don’t do equality anymore)
What’s interesting here is that Monaghan is the only county where SF is the major party. I expect SF’s vote to remain steady but many working people who don’t vote SF turned to Labour in the GE last election if memory serves me right. I wonder if this clown might not mop up some votes this time around? And is it possible some nationalist sentiment might fall for this crap?

He topped the poll in the last Local Elections and got almost 2000 votes in the General Election. He used Similar anti immigrant rhetoric in his 2011 leaflet http://irishelectionliterature.wordpress.com/2011/02/15/leaflet-for-seamus-treanor-independent-cavan-monaghan/

Nasty. Thanks for the info. I’m genuinely surprised, but I’ve been away for some time now.
He’s pushing emotive buttons, but I see he doesn’t offer 1 concrete economic solution. Still, this shite must be opposed overtly at source. I wonder if SF is taking note or is worried?
