I’m wondering has anyone else had problems sourcing Dr. Matt Treacy’s book? I was in Hodges Figgis today looking for it and the many copies there a week or so ago had all gone. Impressive, though they didn’t seem to know when the next batch would arrive.
Anywhere else anyone has seen it in Dublin in the last few days?

The Cedar Lounge Revolution
It’s my understanding that it has been recalled pending an errata slip which is to be placed into all copies on the back of Anthony Coughlan’s threat of libel action.

Exactly what is Coughlan threatening libel on? The whole thing frankly seems absurd. Particularly as I’m dying to get my hands on a copy of the damn thing.

the thing about libel is that if you repeat what is later deemed to have been libellous, you can be sued as well. So, not to put cedarlounge into that position, here’s a link to Coughlan’s criticisms:

I’ve read Coughlan’s criticisms already but I really don’t see how anything he refers to can be considered libellous.

Unfortunately it’s not up to you to decide, budapestkick, it’s for a court to decide. And Ireland’s libel laws are quite strict.

On the subject of books on the Irish left history,
has anyone here seen “Sam Nolan:A Long March on
the Left” by Brian Kenny? I picked up a copy in
Books Upstairs and it’s an interesting read. Kenny
has writing another book about Irish Labour whose name escapes me.

I read the two links above and it seems to me that he has a very good case. His quote “This is journalistic gossip, not history” rings true,particularly if Dr Tracy counters ACs account of events with anonymous information to suit his version.And as the man said he was never a member of any formation other than the Labour Party,told Dr Tracy this ,has a history of litigation against anyone who alleges otherwise,and then reads this in the book.Obvious result really.
