The Mahon Tribunal covered land deals mainly in the constituencies of Dublin North, Dublin West and Dublin Mid West.
In the 1989 and 1992 General Elections thirteen people stood for Fianna Fail in those constituencies.
They were

Ray Burke
GV Wright
Marian McGennis
Sean Gilbride
Chris Flood
Sean Walsh
Colm McGrath
John Hannon
Charlie O’Connor
Liam Lawlor
Brain Lenihan snr
Olga Bennett
Finbarr Hanrahan

Between the various tribunals etc not too many of them still have their reputations intact. You’d wonder how reflective they were of other areas of the country that have not been investigated.

Fine Gael and Progressive Democrat candidates deserve addition to this list ~ not forgetting the 2 by 4 club wined and dined by Frank Dunlop.

Maybe people familiar with carpentry – such as Dustin the Turkey? – can explain the carpentry connection between a 2 by 4 plank and the nest of Fine Gael politicians wined and dined by Frank Dunlop.

Gene Kerrigan puts it in context :

“Fine Gael is playing it cool. Low-key expressions of disgust. The impression they’re aiming at is quiet high-mindedness. Oh, indeed, they suggest — if only we’d been in charge . . .

They must be relieved that the media didn’t seem to have room for the Tom Hand affair. You know about the Tom Hand affair?”

Wasn’t Charlie `Mr Tallaght’ O’Connor my TD in Dublin South West? Sean Walsh likewise?

Yep. Walsh, Flood, O’Connor and, I think, McGrath were all Dublin South West.

Sean Walsh has a park named after him in Tallaght. The mind boggles.
