Signs of Hope – A continuing series March 15, 2019

Gewerkschaftler suggested this recently:

I suggest this blog should have a regular (weekly) slot where people can post happenings at the personal or political level that gives them hope that we’re perhaps not going to hell in a handbasket as quickly as we thought. Or as the phlegmatic Germans put it “hope dies last”.

Any contributions this week?

Hm – tried posting this once but it was good to see groups of children on my way to work with banners etc. on their way to the climate school strike.

Definitely a very hopeful sign. Plus the fact that this is truly world-wide – not just confined to the richer world.

+1

On a more downbeat note check out a certain G O’Dohertys wiki page – I will not link the her site or twitter feed and see what she said re the vile Mosque murders in NZ.

Has been banned from holding a meeting in Bantry as a result, at least.

Good sign. About time there was a push back.

I did like that strike, though …

I passed some school students on the climate strike in Dublin today. They were being herded by their teachers.

Co-opting a strike for a Civic, Social and Political Education “action project” makes it not a strike.

Piece on the NZ-based site Redline dealing with the right-wing terrorist attack in Christchurch which has left 49 Muslims dead, about 20 more hospitalised, two of whom are very seriously injured (one of them a five-year-old child).

The massacre in Christchurch: individual terrorism was nurtured by state terrorism
