This document published by the Communist Party of Ireland is interesting for a number of reasons, not least that while it is dated and numbered as Number 1, there was in fact an earlier publication with the same name issue by the CPI in 1970.
It has a broad range of articles with Betty Sinclair assessing the end of Direct Rule, A Raftery considering ‘The Roots of Coalitionism’, George Jeffares writing ‘After Chile’ and Roy Johnston engaging with ‘Ireland’s Natural Resources’.
Please note: We accept scanned files in good faith. However if files have been posted for or to other online archives previously we would appreciate if we could be informed of that. We are keen to credit same where applicable or simply provide links.
Jeffares was an interesting character. He was a leading Irish communist going back to the Irish Workers’ League era in the 1950s, and visited China. He resigned from the CPI around 1975 with Joe Deasy and others and joined Labour in the 1980s.
