Thanks to EWI for this… Those who have seen Eoin Ryan’s poster for Fianna Fáil will know that ‘fighting’ is becoming a trope of these elections.

Any posters or other European Election materials gratefully accepted.

It’s a good idea using those band poster style advertising hoardings. An awful lot cheaper than actual billboards. It is a bit disconcerting to see Joe’s face peering out from between posters for singer songwriters and Stone Roses tribute acts though.

(By the way, WbS I will get back to you in the near future about that stuff for the archive. Sorry for being so flakey about it),

It is a good idea actually. Ceist bheag amháin though, is that a full colour poster, and if so why is Joe’s image b/w?

That’s grand re the other stuff. Looking forward to it…

The Creepy Party are carefully husbanding their postering resources. Not.

Example 1: At the entrance to the Stephen’s Green Centre Car Park, two billboards of Caroline Simons beside each other (one a straightforward paper affair, the other being one of these transitioning billboards).

Example 2: As I mentioned yesterday, a large billboard for Raymond O’Malley (Ireland East candidate) on the Dublin Road in Longford town.

The only problem with the O’Malley poster is that since the European boundaries were redrawn last year, Longford – along with all the counties surrounding it – is now in Ireland North West, where our Creepy Party candidate is El Caudillo himself. The nearest Ireland East voter for Mr O’Malley to appeal to is forty miles away.

I’m holding out for full-on Bollywood style posters with all-action poses and batting eyelashes. I think the Gerry and Mary-Lou show might come up trumps. She could pull off a bindi, and he’s a natural with a scimitar.

Paddy, that’s brilliant. I think perhaps we should publicise that a bit more widely! 😉

Steve… and up the top. It’s in yellow.

Surely more like Star Wars Episode IV, Alastair?

Front page of tonight’s Herald basically accuses the ‘Militant Socialist Party’ of being behind this current wildcat strike at Dublin Bus. Thoughts on that, anyone? Also, it does appear to be turning nasty, but what’s the wildcatters side of the story?

Wow… really? I like the “Militant” Socialist Party…

I suspect the journo thought that was the actual name of the party. The SP cadre accused of being the ‘sinister Mr. Big’ behind the wildcat strike was repeatedly described as a Che Guevara fan. That’s not actually the SP line on Che is it? If memory serves, they use him as a bit of window dressing to get the kids interested. . .

A Che Guevara fan?!!! Jaysus, you can get Che Guevara T-shirts in Dunnes Stores.

I wonder if the the Evening Herald editor is a fan of the jailed former terrorist Nelson Mandela. I think we should be told that too!

I suspect that the SP member attacked in the article will probably have it framed. I haven’t seen the article, but somebody told me today that it compared him to Arther Scargill!

Scargill…? Oh dear.

Joe Higgins is ‘the hardest working politician’ in Ireland. No air brushing needed on his poster .. he is what he is .. a hell of a lot more than most ….
